Neighbours legend Jason Donovan teases possible reunion with Kylie Minogue in show’s finale

While we’re still suffering from the news that Neighbours will be ending this summer, many fans are hoping for a spectacular finale and some huge reunions.

Scott and Charlene Robinson (as the renowned Jason Donovan and Kylie Minogue) are probably among the most well-known, and the former has teased talks about the possibility.

Before the show’s cancellation was revealed this morning (March 3), Jason spoke out on 98FM’s Big Breakfast regarding the potential of a reunion.

“Look, I’m not going to pretend there hasn’t been a debate about it because you know there is a chance,” he admitted. “But I can’t say it’ll happen because it wouldn’t be the truth, you know, so the answer is I don’t know.”

He went on to say: “But I think this is a little different, so let’s see what happens, but if it doesn’t, it doesn’t bother me either. It’s a celebration of a wonderful Australian television series, and for the past three decades, it’s kept my family in business.”

Jason admitted that the show’s ending was “sad” news, but said he was “extremely grateful” for the soap.

“You know, this is 36 years of outstanding television and, I believe, 36 years of firmly placing Australia on the map,” he added.

“I mean, look at the careers that have been established as a result of it.” So I’m thinking of the positives, of the joy, affection, and love that the programme has inspired over the years it’s been on television.”

“I’ll be forever grateful for the experience & the friends I met on @neighbours,” Kylie tweeted today in response to the show’s cancellation.

“We had no clue how popular the show would become or how deeply people would care about it.” Pure adoration! Madge’s voice is still ringing in my ears… CHARLENE!!!!”

Following Channel 5’s announcement last month that it will no longer be airing Neighbours due to a lack of alternative funding, production company Fremantle confirmed the cancellation news.

While it appears that things are still up in the air for Jason and Kylie, we do know that several familiar faces, like Harold Bishop, will be returning to say their goodbyes to Ramsay Street (Ian Smith).

Let’s hope we see Charlene and Scott again as well!
