When is Home and Away back on Channel 5 and what will happen?

Home and Away has been off the air for a little over a week, and fans have been wondering when the popular Australian soap would return to Channel 5.

Home and Away is a television series that covers the ups and downs of the people of Summer Bay, a fictional Australian seaside town. It is known for helping to launch the careers of stars such as Hollywood actor Chris Hemsworth.

The next season of episodes will include a thrilling new arrival, the return of a familiar figure, and solutions to some of the Bay’s biggest mysteries, after last week’s dramatic cliffhanger.

So, when will Home and Away be back on the air, and why isn’t it on Channel 5 this month? Everything you need to know is right here.

When will Home and Away be on again?

On Monday, January 3, 2022, Home and Away will return to the UK.

If you can’t wait that long, 5STAR first peek viewers will be able to see the same programme on Friday, December 31 at 6.30pm.

From then forward, episodes of Home and Away will be shown on Channel 5 at 1.15 p.m. on weekdays.

The long-running Australian serial ran in the nights until last month, when it was moved to the daytime due to a Channel 5 schedule change.

Thankfully, the option to watch Home and Away at 6 p.m. is still accessible, with repeat screenings on free-to-air digital channel 5STAR.

5STAR’s first-look screenings, which show at 6.30pm and are one episode ahead of the main Channel 5 broadcast, are for those who prefer being one step ahead.

Why isn’t Home and Away on television?

Last month, Channel 5 announced that Home and Away would be taking its six-week Christmas vacation once again.

On Monday, November 22nd, the season’s last episode aired (Friday, November 19 for 5STAR viewers).

Spoilers for Home and Away 2022

Tane Parata’s hidden stalker carried out a terrible attack at local eatery Salt, and the 2021 season of Home and Away concluded on a fairly dramatic cliffhanger.

In terms of what fans may anticipate from the upcoming season, it appears that a familiar face will return to Summer Bay in the form of Salvatore Coco, who previously appeared on the programme in 2005 as Dimitri Poulos, the oldest of the Poulos brothers.

The aftermath from Chloe, Mia, and Matthew’s dramatic showdown, as well as Ryder and Theo’s increasingly risky dares, which resulted in Ryder being buried in a box in the earth, will be addressed in the next season.

Luke Van Os, Chris Hemsworth’s cousin and former Home and Away star, will also join the cast of Home and Away as Xander, a mystery character who arrives in the Bay looking for answers.
