Coronation Street reveals first storyline for recast Max Turner

A new plot for Max Turner has been announced by Coronation Street, and it will be the first to include new Max actor Paddy Bever.

Last week, the drama revealed that former Max actor Harry McDermott had stood down after 11 years in the role, with Paddy taking over for upcoming storylines.

Paddy will make his debut appearance as Max next week at school, when he fights with new teacher Daniel Osbourne (Rob Mallard).

Daniel’s father, Ken Barlow (William Roache), who used to be a teacher, couldn’t be more proud of his son when he begins his teaching placement.

When Max starts acting out in class, Daniel realises that his new job will be far from simple.

When Max’s adoptive father, David Platt (Jack P Shepherd), learns about his misbehaviour in class, he chastises him – but Max merely storms off, expressing no remorse.

When Max argues that school is a waste of time later in the week, David is concerned. Daniel assigns Max a detention after he fails to turn in his schoolwork, but Max maintains he doesn’t care.

Daniel makes excuses when David subsequently proposes that Max may benefit from more tutoring.

Is this the beginning of a pattern of Max’s poor behaviour?

Max is the son of David’s late wife, Kylie Platt (Paula Lane), and her ex-husband, Callum Logan. This isn’t the first time David has encountered a problem with Max (Sean Ward).

David was stressed out by Max’s brief reconnection with Callum. Max’s diagnosis of ADHD, as well as his subsequent choice to quit taking his medication, was a major turning point for the family.
