Lincoln Younes has a secret new project in the works, and while the actor can’t reveal exactly what it is just yet, he promises it will be very different from anything fans have seen him do before.
“There’s a show coming up I start in about a month or two which will be quite different,” the former Home and Away star, 34, tells TV WEEK
. “I can’t say anything yet, but it is local.”
After working overseas on projects including Grand Hotel and The Lost Boys, Lincoln says the biggest difference between Australian and international productions comes down to two things: time and money.
“The thing we struggled with in Australia is budget and time,” he explains. “If we had a bit more risk-taking and a bit more budget injected into our arts, we would be on top of the world in terms of the industry.
“You can see it with a lot of the shows that translate overseas. We’ve got all the makings for it but we usually don’t have enough prep time, enough in scripting, enough shoot time. That comes back to money. We just need a bit more support.”
Lincoln was speaking from the TV WEEK Logie Awards red carpet, where he was celebrating Strife, in which he plays Giles, alongside co-stars Asher Keddie and Matt Day. Both were nominated for their performances, with Asher up for Best Actress in a Comedy and Matt nominated for Best Actor in a Comedy.
“They’re both such phenomenal actors,” the Last King of the Cross star says. “The longer you’re in this industry, you want to be working with people you look up to. I’m only a small part in it, but it’s always nice to work with people that you respect, you know?”
