Guy Pearce to return to Neighbours – again!

It has been made known that Guy Pearce will feature in Neighbours several times when it returns later this year.

Numerous actors from Neighbours’ 37-year existence returned for its final few episodes, including Margot Robbie as Donna Freedman, Kylie Minogue as Charlene Robinson, Jason Donovan as Scott Robinson, Daniel MacPherson as Joel Samuels, and Jesse Spencer as Billy Kennedy.

However, Guy Pearce’s comeback as 1980s heartthrob Mike Young may have had the largest influence on the show’s conclusion.

While several of Neighbours’ well-known characters from previous seasons only made brief appearances, Mike had a significant role in the episodes’ final week.

Guy’s persona Sam Young (Henrietta Graham), who started working at Lassiter’s in June as Chloe’s new assistant, was later discovered to be the father.

Her last name was kept a secret until Mike appeared with her in the three-part finale, which aired on July 28, 2022, in Australia and July 29, 2022, in the UK.

At Lassters, Mike quite literally ran into his old flame Jane Harris (Annie Jones), and the two quickly resumed their affair from the 1980s.

In the 1980s, Mike and Jane were a popular pair. The two survived a protracted affair and were at the time referred to as the love of one other’s lives back when Jane was still known as “Plain Jane Super Brain”.

Together with Charlene (Kylie Minogue) and Scott (Jason Donovan), the trio was a force to be reckoned with.

In what was then thought to be the final episodes of Neighbours, Jane gave Mike a tour of every Ramsay Street home.

He also took part in the comedic fight that ended the performance, in which he and Clive Gibbons (Geoff Paine) fought over a lamp because Clive was envious of their friendship.

The majority of the properties on the renowned cul-de-sac were up for sale in the last weeks, and Mike decided to buy his former residence at No. 24 when Chloe (April Rose Pengilly) made the decision to start over in Sydney.

Over thirty years after Mike’s initial departure, the series’ concluding episodes provided Mike and Jane the ideal happy ending.

It was expected that Guy wouldn’t be playing Mike again when it was revealed that Amazon had intervened to save Neighbours earlier this year.

Guy Pierce, who appeared in Memento, L.A. Confidential, and The Hurt Locker, has grown to be one of Hollywood’s biggest stars since leaving Neighbours in 1989.

Thus, one of the main questions has been how the authors will account for Mike’s absence.

Guy made light of the fact that he’d “inadvertently committed [himself] to another four years” when the show’s resurrection was first announced.

Guy has now confirmed that he will reprise his role as Mike in the recently relaunched series later this year, at least for a few guest roles, in an interview with the Sydney Morning Herald’s Good Weekend Talks.

I was a little taken aback by that since Annie [Jones] and I had just contacted each other and asked, “What do we do now that we’re living on the street?” Guy relates, mentioning that his persona now resides back on Ramsay Street.

“Well, I’m okay because I’m on the show anyway, what are you doing to do?” “And [Annie] said.”

We’re trying to figure it out since I said, “I dunno.”

Guy began by giving some hints when asked if we can expect to see him return: “You may, y’know, because if I’m going to extricate myself from the show, I wanna do it sort of respectfully, and I wasn’t just gonna go, ‘oh, well, bad luck, you had your chance, that was it.'”

He finally affirmed it:

So, let’s just say that there might be a brief appearance or two.

When questioned if the return had blindsided him, Guy responded, “It’s okay, I’m pleased to be there. As they say, “It’s the gift that keeps on giving.”

Still unknown is whether Mike and Jane will have a happy ending as a result of his comeback, but at least now we’ll know what transpired after that.

In either case, Jane will probably be busy. Although it hasn’t been verified, it’s assumed that her daughter Nicolette Stone will also make a cameo, albeit with a slightly altered appearance.

Charlotte Chimes previously portrayed Nicolette. Charlotte revealed in an Instagram Live video from the beginning of April that while the role of Nicolette will be replaced, she won’t be returning as the character.

It’s also anticipated that Byron, Jane’s son, will make a comeback, this time with a different actor.

Secretly, Annie Jones has hinted on several occasions recently that Jane might have more kids than the two we’ve previously met. Could Nicolette and Byron have unidentified siblings?

Official confirmation has been given that the following characters will be returning to Neighbours:

Alan Fletcher’s Karl Kennedy
Jackie Woodburne’s character Susan Kennedy
Ryan Moloney’s Toadie Rebecchi
Stefan Dennis posing as Paul Robinson
(Annie Jones) Jane Harris
Rebekah Elmaloglou and Tim Kano’s Leo Tanaka as Terese Willis
Georgie Stone’s character Mackenzie Hargreaves
Rebecchi / Melanie Pearson (Lucinda Cowden)
Lloyd Will’s Andrew Rodwell
Sadie Rodwell (Emerald Chan) and Wendy Rodwell (Candice Leask)

returning as visitors are:

April Rose Pengilly’s Chloe Brennan
Ian Smith portrays Harold Bishop.
Melissa Bell’s Lucy Robinson

Neighbours will be back in the Australian spring or the UK fall.

The new show will have its US and UK premiere on Amazon FreeVee for nothing. It will premiere on Network 10 in Australia and then air seven days later on Prime Video.

In Canada, Ireland, South Africa, Australia, and New Zealand, the series will also be available to watch on Prime Video.
