Home and Away spoilers: Lynne McGranger teases ‘exciting’ new character

A mystery character is on the way.

Lynne McGranger of Home and Away recently hinted the arrival of a “exciting new character” in Summer Bay. The actress, who has been Irene Roberts since 1991, posted a cute photo of herself and Cash Newman, played by Nicholas Cartwright, on Instagram.

In the selfie, the couple was grinning from ear to ear, with a kissing emoji covering the enigmatic new actor. Since Cash is wearing his police uniform, it’s conceivable that the new individual is connected to a crime.

Cash and a fascinating new persona are giving off Saturday vibes. Coming soon,” Lynne wrote as her caption.

Fans quickly speculated on the identity of the new character in the comments, with some appealing with the show’s creators not to separate Cash from his on-screen lover Eden Fowler, who is portrayed by Stephanie Panozzo.

One admirer said, “Can’t wait to see who the new character is.”

Another person said, “Exciting new character, I love the sound of that, hope it’s Flick & Cash’s foster dad Gary.”

A third added, “I’d love to see Damian and Fin make an appearance,” alluding to Damian Roberts and Finlay ‘Fin’ Roberts, who appeared on the serial in the 1990s.

Harper comes to Summer Bay

It’s likely that the unnamed character is Harper, who is portrayed by Melbourne-based actress Jessica Redmayne. She has acted on television before, costarring with former Home and Away actor Stephen Peacocke in 800 Words, Neighbours, and Five Bedrooms.

Ada Nicodemou (Leah Patterson) unintentionally posted a call sheet and script pages on social media in March. The new information is nevertheless intriguing even if it is unclear whether the additional characters would be regulars or guest stars.

Jessica’s persona Harper was listed as being in a scene with Cash and Irene on Ada’s rehearsal call sheet. In March, the actor was seen filming in Palm Beach and appeared to be comfortable with Nicholas’ character Cash.

We may see Harper around August since the show normally shoots about five months in advance. Fans are concerned about what Harper’s plot will include even though it’s unclear whether she will be the police officer’s new love interest or just a buddy.

One fan asked on social media, “Is she going to be a love interest for Cash, please tell me no!”

I love Cash and Eden together, so please don’t tell me they split up, said another.

“On spoiler sites, it was suggested that she might have been Lily Smith, Gypsy’s daughter. However, I don’t believe she is connected to Irene,” a third person added.
