Neighbours reveals a first look at Nicolette Stone’s new romance storyline

A first look at Nicolette Stone’s new romance plot on Neighbours has been released, with flames flying between her and newbie Kiri Hua Durant.

Nicolette (Charlotte Chimes) is one of a group of Erinsborough residents that decide to go on a trip to River Bend, and during their vacation, Nicolette falls in love with the charming Kiri (Gemma Bird Matheson).

Nicolette chooses to throw herself into her vacation romance, and the indicators are good as the two get to know each other more.

Nicolette can’t help but put her foot in it, but Kiri appears to be just as enthralled as she is, and the two lean in for a kiss.

At River Bend, things are getting heated for the potential couple – could this be the start of a new relationship?

Gemma Bird Matheson was cast as new regular Kiri on Neighbours earlier this month, with the character described as “a bit secretive and seductive,” “very morally-driven,” and “a decent girl at heart” – all of which should bode well for a continued romance with Nicolette.

“(Kiri) definitely finds herself in the heart of a lot of turmoil,” Matheson said of her casting, adding that she feels “honoured” to be a part of the soap’s ensemble.

“I was also excited about what this representation would mean for a lot of people,” she continued, “particularly on such a mainstream show.”

“I’m a strong supporter of LGBT actors in queer roles. This role excites me for various reasons, one of which is that I get to play myself, a queer Papua New Guinean Christian. That’s a huge accomplishment.”

Unfortunately for some of the other Erinsborough residents on the trip, the River Bend retreat isn’t quite as peaceful, as Freya Wozniak (Phoebe Roberts) is kidnapped by her ex, Gareth Bateman (Jack Pearson), and Levi Canning (Richie Morris) is shot.
