The set of Home and Away has often been a fertile environment for performers to fall in love.
Rebecca Breeds (Ruby) and Luke Mitchell (Luke) had one of the most memorable on-screen romances that spilled over into real life (Romeo).
After nine years of marriage, the Summer Bay golden couple, who are now located in the United States, have celebrated Valentine’s Day.
“‘Each day is Valentine’s Day 🎶,’ I love you more,” Rebecca wrote beside a loving selfie of the couple together to honour the day.
Luke retweeted his own post, writing: “A serious game of Putt-Putt shouts “romance” like nothing else… Happy Valentine’s Day, everyone!!”
Rebecca and Luke met at a mutual friend’s housewarming celebration on May 23, 2009, and “clicked instantaneously.”
Luke, a Queensland native, has recently relocated to Sydney for his part on Home and Away. Rebecca, who was already a fan of the show, had no idea that the man she described as “this blond vision” would be Summer Bay’s newest star.
“I had the impression that I already knew him. “I had the distinct impression that we had shared another existence,” she told New Idea. “I knew right after the party that what I had with Luke was the soulmate connection.”
Their love was meant to be, and in 2013, the couple married in a beautiful ceremony at Kangaroo Valley Bush Retreat in NSW.
In front of 70 of their closest friends and family, they exchanged passionate vows that they had written themselves.
“I will be guided by love, not fear,” Luke promised. I’ll look after you, support you, honour you, listen to you, and motivate you… and I will love you unconditionally for the rest of my life.”
“I will be your greatest supporter and encouragement, holding your hand and cheering you on through everything,” an emotional Rebecca said.
“I’m going to try to see the positive side of things. As the head of our family and household, I shall trust and respect you. Everything else will take a back seat to our relationship. I’ll accompany you into the wilds of this world, and I’ll be your safe haven of love, both in this world and beyond.”
Rebecca and Luke have moved overseas to pursue their Hollywood dreams since leaving the sandy shores of Summer Bay.
