Home and Away stars support Emily Weir’s big career move: ‘F**K YES’

The Summer Bay star hopes to dance her way to victory.

The big-hearted and talented Emily Weir (Mackenzie Booth) of Home and Away will now get to show off her dance skills on Dancing with the Stars. The effervescent brunette will partner with professional dancer Lyu Masuda, following in the footsteps of Summer Bay icons Kate Ritchie (Sally Fletcher) and Ada Nicodemou (Leah Patterson).

Fans have previously watched the celebrity perform a basic Irish jig for St. Patrick’s Day and learn salsa from Sarah Thompson’s character Laura Vazquez in a behind-the-scenes video.

She uploaded a photo of the entire Dancing with the Stars cast to Instagram on Friday and left no caption. It’s happening, ummm. Emily composed.

A video of Lyu showcasing his power by holding his entire body parallel to the ground while perched on a street sign pole was also posted by the fan favorite.

“Go! Amazing, oh my God. She exclaims, “That’s so good,” in the video before Lyu bursts out laughing.

He’s hot, talented, and mine. He’s my crook dance partner, she continued.

That her current and previous co-stars are pulling for Emily to win the mirrorball trophy should come as no surprise. Sophie Dillman (Ziggy Astoni), who shared the cast announcement on her account, simply wrote “F**K YES @weir.emily.”

Sophie tells Yahoo Lifestyle that she is ecstatic for her close friend Emily, whom she has jokingly referred to as her “work wife” in the past.

She is a true dance queen, and the actress exclaims, “I can’t wait to see her shine.”

Others shared the love on social media, with Ada telling Emily to “break a leg”.

“Sooooooo excited!!!!! She’s going to slaaaaaayyyyyy,” Sarah Roberts (Willow Harris) commented.

“Ooooosh @weir.emily show them what you got!” added Ethan Browne (Tane Parata).

“Rooting for the star that is @weir.emily!!!!” Kirsty Marillier (Rose Delaney) exclaimed.

While most fans were thrilled by the announcement, some questioned whether it may be the last episode Emily will appear in for Home and Away. Sophie and Patrick O’Connor (Dean Thompson), Kawakawa Fox-Reo (Nikau Parata), Lukas Radovich (Ryder Jackson), and Courtney Miller (Bella Nixon) were among a number of high-profile actors that left the show in the past year.

Ada did, however, take on the dance competition once more in 2021, and organizers were able to work around her schedule so she wouldn’t have to leave the program.

Seven has been contacted by Yahoo Lifestyle for comment.
