A cherished Home and Away family member is fighting cancer.
Bruce Murray, a major cast member for a number of years, has been told he has stage 4 oesophageal cancer.
To help Bruce’s family with medical expenses, a Go Fund Me page has been created.
According to the fundraiser’s description, “Our beloved, good friend Bruce Murray was recently diagnosed with Stage 4 Oesophageal Cancer. Unfortunately, the cancer entered his bloodstream and formed multiple cancers on his bones, including his ribs, spine, collar bone, sacrum, and hips.”
“Bruce will shortly begin a combination of chemotherapy and immunotherapy, focusing on the three most critical bone areas: the spine, ribs, and hips.”
It will be a long trip, but we are optimistic and confident in the strength of our beloved Brucey.
“Please consider making a donation if you would like to; anything will help Bruce and his family on this journey and provide some solace during these difficult times ahead.”
The $10,000 initial goal has been much exceeded by the $16,830 that has been raised on the Go Fund Me page.
Bruce has over 20 years of experience as a grip, key grip, and jib operator in the film and television industries.
Home and Away, All Saints, Breakers, Good News Week, Above the Law, and E Street are just a few of his credits.
Bruce’s work has been praised for being “very professional and very fast,” and he has been credited with helping to give the drama “its new directional look.”
As the team leader, he has experience working in a wide range of environments, including the beach, underwater, in cars and boats, atop buildings, and on cliff cliffs.
