Richard Huggett, star of Neighbours, spoke to Digital Spy about the impact from Glen Donnelly’s secret being revealed.
The show on Channel 5 on Tuesday finished with a shocking revelation, as Glen’s brother Paul Robinson revealed his secret link to Kiri Durant.
Glen has been keeping quiet about how he is Kiri’s long-lost father for the past few weeks.
When Nicolette Stone and private detective John Wong presented Paul with the information he needed to throw a spanner in the works, the truth was ultimately revealed.
“Glen would like to kill Paul if he could!” Richard joked to Digital Spy about the consequences. For Glen, that marks the end of their brotherly connection.
“I don’t think Paul could do much about it right now.” It’s over in Glen’s opinion. I don’t think he’ll be able to forgive him for this.”
Richard stated, “She’s just in full shock and she doesn’t want anything to do with Glen.” Kiri is astounded to learn that her mother has lied to her her entire life – and that her father Alan was completely unaware.
“I believe Glen and Kiri will be able to reconcile their differences. There will be, but it will take time for Kiri to accept Glen and move on.
“I don’t think she’ll want a father because she already has one; instead, I think she’ll want a friend.”
“Glen had wanted to tell Kiri the truth sooner, but he was afraid of the consequences. If Paul hadn’t been involved, I don’t think he would have told her.”
Richard also discussed filming the sequences with Kiri’s co-star Gemma Bird Matheson.
“The early part of the plot has been incredibly strange to play, with Glen being so mysterious,” he said, laughing.
“It’s a pleasure to work with Gemma. She’s a lot of fun to be around and a fantastic performer. She’s also a writer and producer, so she takes care of everything.”
