According to rumours, iconic characters from the TV serial Neighbours may make exciting cameo appearances in the final episodes.
According to Birmingham Live, Jason Donovan and Kylie Minogue’s characters Scott and Charlene are among those who could return.
Although their characters haven’t appeared on the show in almost three decades, Jason’s real-life daughter Jemma Robinson is presently playing Harlow Robinson on the show.
“Bosses have spoken to Jason, who has accepted in theory to return,” a source told the Sun tabloid.
“Kylie has always been a tremendous fan of the show; they’re just waiting for a response.”
“Neighbours will no longer air on Channel 5 after this summer,” a representative for the channel said.
“We’d like to congratulate the cast, Fremantle, and the entire production crew for their excellent work on this landmark series, which has been a much-loved part of our schedule for more than a decade.”
“Of course, we’d like to thank the fans for their unwavering support of Neighbours over the years.”
“We understand that this decision will cause sadness, but our present focus is on boosting our investment in original UK drama, which has a great appeal for our audiences.”
Neighbours first aired on BBC One before moving to Channel 5 in 2008.
Scott and Charlene’s wedding in 1987 drew 20 million viewers in the United Kingdom, and the characters left Erinsborough in 1988 for a new life in Brisbane.
