What’s happened to Marilyn? How Summer Bay’s deadly toxic chemical attack has changed the fan favourite

Marilyn may have recovered consciousness, but something is still wrong with her this week. Her personality has shifted — and not in a positive way.

Marilyn (Emily Symons) confronts doctor Logan (Harley Bonner) after asking John (Shane Withington) and Irene (Lynne McGranger) to leave her hospital room. She demands an explanation as to why he would allow her ex-husband to be near her.

Logan, perplexed by her attitude, inquires of Alf (Ray Meagher) about her and John’s relationship. His response, that he believed the two were in a nice spot, perplexes him even more.

Fans may recall that during the chemical assault at Salt, Marilyn fell on her walk home from the Diner after breathing deadly vapours.

“The organophosphate has an unanticipated effect on her,” Harley, 30, tells TV WEEK. “It has a psychological effect on her, which is a very serious side effect.”

Marilyn checks herself out of the hospital the next day and goes to Salt with Ziggy (Sophie Dillman) and Dean (Patrick O’Connor) for breakfast – and drinks!

It raises red flags among her pals, but when the committed vegetarian buys a meat burger, they realise something is severely wrong with her.

“I think that’s one of Logan’s key signals that there’s more to her problem than meets the eye,” Harley explains.

And if Leah (Ada Nicodemou) and Irene think Marilyn eating meat is strange, wait till she notices a roster change that sees Chloe (Sam Barrett) taking her position at the Diner and explodes into a frenzy for the second time.

Will Logan be able to help her reclaim her former self, or will Marilyn be stuck in this state for the rest of her life?

Harley says, “Logan thinks he can help everyone.” “However, once he grasps the problem, he realises that this is above his pay grade.”
