A number of Hollywood performers, like Chris Hemsworth, Samara Weaving, and Isla Fisher, got their start on Home and Away, and now one of them has indicated that they’d be interested in returning to Summer Bay.
Fisher, who previously played Shannon Reed on the drama from 1994 to 1997, has said that she had “considered about” returning to the programme.
“Of course I’ve thought about it!” the actress, who is married to Borat actor Sacha Baron Cohen, said of a possible comeback in an interview with Yahoo Lifestyle. ‘Wouldn’t it be hilarious?’ I’ve thought.
“However, the fact is that you must provide plenty of warning, then it must be written down, and finally you must commit. But, clearly, walking past with a surfboard or anything would be entertaining at some time.”
It might not be a complete comeback, but we’d love to see it.
Shannon’s three years on the drama included battling anorexia, reuniting with her birth mother after being adopted, and having a relationship with an author called Mandy, with whom she finally departed the Bay.
Fisher has had a successful Hollywood career after leaving Home and Away, starring in films such as Wedding Crashers, Confessions of a Shopaholic, and Now You See Me.
However, she claimed that her favourite performance was playing tragic Myrtle Wilson in the film adaptation of F Scott Fitzgerald’s novel The Great Gatsby in 2013.
“I’ll always say that The Great Gatsby was such a unique experience for me,” she remarked. “Not just to work with [director] Baz Luhrmann, who I’d adored from everything he’d ever done, but I think simply constructing Long Island the way we did in Sydney, with the sets, breadth, size, and character.”
“That character, Myrtle, was so unlike anything I’d ever portrayed before, and I got to do so much study for her.” It was simply amazing; every moment was divine.”
