Underbelly, the true crime drama series, will return for a second season in 2022, with a cast that includes a few recognisable faces.
The new season, Underbelly: Vanishing Act, is based on the true storey of Melissa Caddick’s disappearance.
Melissa was a high-roller who reportedly embezzled more than $40 million before disappearing altogether.
The mystery enthralled the country, leaving her family, clients, and police wondering all they thought they knew about her.
Fans of the Underbelly franchise will be ecstatic to learn that the high-stakes drama series is not only returning next year, but also bringing an all-star ensemble with it.
Wentworth’s Kate Atkinson will portray Melissa in the series, which also stars Colin Friels from Mystery Road, Maya Stange and Sophie Bloom from Love Child, and Ursula Mills from Out of the Blue.
Not to mention, Tai Hara from Home and Away will appear in the highly anticipated series, which will premiere on Channel Nine in 2022.
Melissa went missing on November 12, 2020, after going for an early morning run only days after the Australian Federal Police and ASIC searched her house over fraud allegations.
The 49-year-old allegedly took upwards of $20 million from relatives and friends over the course of seven years through investments, then used the money to support her extravagant lifestyle.
Melissa was declared deceased in February of this year after the remnants of her foot were discovered in a shoe on a New South Wales south coast beach.
