With a fresh hint, Home and Away has verified DS Madden’s corruption.
Leading the police hunt for Dana Matheson is Madden; Olly, her former boyfriend, has been framing her for narcotics offences.
Recently, Cash Newman and DS Madden had a falling out over his open doubts about the facts behind Dana’s case. Madden has attempted to downplay Cash’s worries while obtaining top-secret information about him.
Since Cash knows Dana is covertly residing with Irene Roberts, he has maintained a deception of his own in scenes that have shown in Australia and will shortly appear on UK televisions.
Cash acknowledges to Harper, Dana’s sister, that DS Madden has cautioned him against becoming too involved in the case, even though he is optimistic about its outcome.
Dana reveals that she was having lunch with Harper the day of the alleged incident when Cash visits her in secret to question her.
Although Dana claims to have told DS Madden about this, her witness statement makes no mention of it. To determine her whereabouts, Cash proposes they look through the restaurant’s security footage.
When Cash stands by Harper during her interview with DS Madden, he has more urgent issues to deal with. The dishonest police officer threatens them both, saying he knows they are lying and that there would be dire repercussions.
In an attempt to clear Dana, Cash then goes to the restaurant to view the CCTV tape. Dana is shocked to learn that Olly has put all of his trust in her when she reads this in his police statement.
Dana takes a chance and calls Olly, threatening to reveal that the evidence is in favour of her. Afterwards, Cash and Harper show there to verify that the CCTV shows the siblings were together on the day of the crime.
Sadly, Cash’s attempt to clear Dana is thwarted when he learns that someone stole the videos before he could access them.
Cash is taken aback to learn that Dana unintentionally alerted Olly, but he also knows that this implies DS Madden and Olly are somehow related.
As he attempts to demonstrate DS Madden’s corruption, he requests that Dana return to Irene’s deep cover. Is he able to clear Dana’s name before DS Madden makes another move?
