Home and Away casts Kirsty Marillier as new character Rose

In the new year, Home and Away is getting ready to welcome a new character to Summer Bay.

Kirsty Marillier, an actor and award-winning writer based in Sydney and Melbourne, will join the cast as new character Rose in 2022, the long-running soap revealed today (Wednesday, November 17).

While it didn’t mention a specific date for Marillier’s debut, it’s safe to assume that fans won’t have to wait long to see her, given that she’s already begun recording her first few scenes.

“Ah! She posted on Instagram shortly after the announcement was made, “Can now come clean about this hot piece of news I’ve been harbouring for the previous 2 months…” “I’m overjoyed to report that I’ve been cast as a series regular on @channel7’s Home & Away.”

“Woah. It’s a little surreal to be a part of this Australian icon-of-a-show. It’s been a fantastic 6 weeks of shooting as I get to know the bay as Rose, the new resident brown girl. Thank you, @dailytelegraph, for this pg 3 spread, and thank you, mother, for keeping this a top secret.”

Marillier, who played Rhea as a guest character on Home and Away in 2018, is now a member of Sydney Theatre Company’s Emerging Writers Group. The Australian premiere of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child was one of her most recent acting roles.

She claimed she was “humbled” to be joining the programme and that she’d always wanted to be a part of its “sunny utopia” when she used to watch it in high school in a prepared statement.

“Having this become my reality seems weird,” she concluded. “I hope UK audiences like Rose as much as I do, and that in 2022, they get to know her intimately as she uncovers mysteries and loves the bay.”
