Gurlaine Kaur Garcha, who portrays Ash Kaur in EastEnders, has revealed a job on Coronation Street that she almost got.
The actress, who has also been in Doctors and Holby City, said that she was close to landing the role of Rana Habeeb in ITV’s flagship serial.
Before Bhavna Limbachia was cast in the part of Corrie’s Rana, Kaur Garcha was one of the final two actresses in the max drol running.
Kaur Garcha spoke with OK! about her ITV soap audition and what occurred when she wasn’t cast.
“I got to the final two for a job in Corrie and didn’t get it,” the 28-year-old, who debuted on EastEnders in 2019, said.
“It was to play the part of Rana. I moved on after auditioning for the part and passing the screen test.”
Despite the fact that Limbachia won the part, Kaur Garcha left her job as a TV producer at BBC One’s The Graham Norton Show to pursue a career in acting.
She continued, saying: “‘Forget this!’ I thought when I didn’t get it. I need to concentrate solely on acting.'”
In a strange turn of events, she obtained the job she’d always wanted and rose to prominence on EastEnders.
“I ended up being an actress, which was always my ambition, and being on EastEnders was always my dream, so I got to tick that box,” she said.
