Warning: Contains major spoilers for Monday’s episode of Coronation Street, which airs at 9pm or can be streamed now on ITVX.
We finally know who killed Theo Silverton (James Cartwright) in Coronation Street.
The murder mystery has been ongoing since a flash-forward episode in February.
At first, viewers weren’t privy to who the victim was, though following Carla and Lisa Connor-Swain’s (Alison King and Vicky Myers) wedding in April, their daughter Betsy (Sydney Martin) found Theo’s dead body in the backyard of the corner shop.
Since then we’ve seen a number of Weatherfield residents questioned. As it stands, Gary Windass (Mikey North) is DC Kit Green’s (Jacob Roberts) prime suspect.
In tonight’s episode, he eyed Gary looking shifty during an after work drink with wife Maria Connor (Samia Longchambon). She has her own suspicions about her husband’s behaviour, but rather than having blood on his hands, she wondered whether he was sleeping with ex-girlfriend Sarah Platt (Tina O’Brien).
The two have been acting strangely for weeks, and she’d now come to the conclusion that this was because of an affair.
Before leaving the Rovers, Kit invited Gary and Maria to join him, Sarah, Todd Grimshaw (Gareth Pierce) and Summer Spellman (Harriet Bibby) for dinner. Both Gary and Sarah were against the idea, knowing how uncomfortable the meal would be, though Maria decided to use it as a platform to address her concerns.
At the Redbank Apartments, she began making barbed comments towards Sarah, while an oblivious Summer knocked back the wine.

Kit wanted some alone time with Gary, using it as an opportunity to make it clear that he wasn’t off the hook and that he didn’t believe his alibi.
Dinner was then served. Before everyone could start tucking into their starters, Summer smashed a glass on the floor and Sarah began to pick up the glass, accidentally cutting herself. Maria stood up, announcing that she was sick of the games and wanted to know about Gary’s infidelity.
He and Sarah denied everything, though when Maria stormed out, it became clear that they were hiding something. The blood pouring down Sarah’s hand reminded her of the moment that she killed Theo.

A flashback took us back to April, with Sarah becoming concerned that Todd hadn’t returned her calls. She arrived at the shop flat, began calling his phone, and wondered why it was ringing from outside.
She climbed out onto the scaffolding, and was spooked to find Theo. He implied that he’d done something to Todd, and branded her a “whore” for having two children by two different fathers.
He then remembered that she’d once had a child with Todd, who was born prematurely and died in 2004. Theo outright claimed that Sarah was still hoping to reconnect with his husband, and that her behaviour was pathetic.

Theo lunged towards Sarah, and fearing for her life, she grabbed a piece of scaffolding in self-defence. She then whacked him across the head, which sent him flying down to the pavement below.
Gary was summoned, and in a bid to protect her, he ordered her off to the Platt residence to get an alibi while he used Theo’s phone to text his ex-wife Danielle (Natalie Anderson). That way, it would seem like Theo was still alive after Sarah’s involvement.
Of course, when she got to No. 8, Jodie Ramsey (Olivia Frances Brown) whacked her around the head with an ornament.
Now fearing that he’s about to be sent down, Gary told Sarah that he was going to tell Maria everything.
Could Sarah be sent down?
