Take That star Gary Barlow and Kate Ritchie get into awkward on-air row after he confuses Home and Away with Neighbours

Tuesday’s embarrassing on-air altercation between radio personality Kate Ritchie and Gary Barlow resulted from Barlow confusing her show Home and Away with Neighbours.

When the 52-year-old Take That artist joined Kate Ritchie on Nova’s Fitzy & Wippa to talk about his next Australian tour, she asked him if he had ever seen Home and Away.

Gary was unaware of the series that Kate Ritchie starred in from 1988 to 2008, and he even mistook it for its main rival.

“You do realise that Terence Donovan and Holly Valance both appeared on Home and Away?” Gary inquired, only to be told by a furious Kate, 45, was one of the stars of Neighbours.

Then Barlow escalated things by saying he liked Kate’s opponent on soap opera better.

“I believe that England was the largest nation for both Home and Away and Neighbours.” Come on, Kylie, we adored Neighbours!” exclaimed the musical sensation.

“That’s okay, Robbie Williams was my fave,” Kate retorted, referencing Gary’s Take That bandmate.

Thankfully, the two reconciled and were shown cuddling in a video uploaded to social media.

It follows the announcement made by the venerable English boy band Take That that Sophie Ellis-Bextor and Ricki-Lee Coulter will support them on their This Life Tour, which will visit Australia later this year.

In an Instagram video posted on Sunday, the group revealed their good news—that they will be touring Australia in October and November.

The boys will be playing a combination of old and new songs for the audience throughout their tour, which corresponds with the release of their This Life album last year.

Take That’s upcoming tour dates are as follows: October 30, Perth; November 2, Adelaide; November 6, Melbourne; November 7, Sydney; and November 10, Queensland.

The show’s tickets will go on sale on Friday, February 9 at 3 p.m.

Gary Barlow, Robbie Williams, Howard Donald, Jason Orange, and Mark Owen made up the band when it was founded in 1990.

Williams first left the group in 1995 to pursue a solo career. He later returned from 2010 to 2014, however he eventually left again to concentrate on his own music.
