Jason Smith starred as Robbie Hunter on the Australian soap opera Home and Away from 2003 to 2006, with Chris Hemsworth and Isabel Lucas.
However, he no longer acts and instead pursues a successful career in the industry in Australia and the United States.
Most recently, the 37-year-old worked as an assistant producer on the music quiz programme Name That Tune, which aired in the United States early last year.
The Fox show, anchored by Jane Krakowski of 30 Rock and Randy Jackson of band leader and former American Idol judge, was shot at the ICC Sydney in late 2020.
He has worked as a producer on Channel 10’s hit guessing game The Masked Singer for seasons one (2019) and three (2021).
In addition to writing credits for four episodes of Power Rangers Megaforce in 2014, he also wrote five episodes of Home and Away between 2012 and 2013.
Jason hosted the Christmas in Summer Bay TV special for Home and Away in 2019.
This role came with a podcast series, which he also hosted and featured interviews with cast members.
On The Morning Show at the time, he was asked if he would ever return to Summer Bay.
‘If Robbie’s evil twin brother Bobby wants to return, I’m in,’ he remarked. I’d love to return if the proper narrative comes up.’
‘Returning to the show and entering through the Summer Bay house doors for the first episode gave me all the feels.’ ‘It felt like I never left,’ he said, referring to the TV special filming.
Jason hosted Nova FM’s Late Nights show for a year in 2016, in addition to his TV duties.
