Perth-raised actor Isla Fisher teases possible Home and Away return

Isla Fisher, a Perth native and national treasure, is allegedly open to returning to Summer Bay more than two decades after leaving the popular Australian television programme.

Fisher, who is currently promoting her new film Back to the Outback, told Yahoo she would be interested in resuming her role as Shannon Reed.

When questioned about a possible cameo appearance, she stated, “Of course I’ve thought about it.”

“I thought to myself, ‘Wouldn’t it be hilarious?’ However, the fact is that you must provide plenty of warning, then it must be written down, and finally you must commit.

“But, obviously, it would be wonderful at some time to just go past with a surfboard or anything.”

From 1994 until 1997, Fisher portrayed Reed. The former MLC student went on to feature in a number of famous Hollywood movies after leaving the Bay, including Confessions of a Shopaholic, Wedding Crashers, and The Great Gatsby.

During the coronavirus outbreak, the actress and her husband, comedian Sasha Baron Cohen, fled to Perth.

The pair posted a series of images on Instagram last week to commemorate their 20th wedding anniversary.

On Wednesday, the 45-year-old Australian actress and the 50-year-old English comedy star shared the same caption and photo gallery on their personal Instagram accounts to commemorate their two decades of marriage.

One of the photos showed Borat’s creator wearing a T-shirt with images of his wife’s face on it.

“Happy Anniversary 20 YEARS,” the message said, along with a phrase from A.A Milne’s ‘Winnie the Pooh,’ which added, “If there ever comes a day we can’t be together, keep me in your heart.” Winnie the Pooh, I’ll stay there indefinitely.”

Baron-Cohen, on the other hand, added his own remark to his post, writing: “Happy Anniversary, my darling.” I’m writing instead of sending you a card. Our longevity is attributed in great part to our location – after all, Hollywood is known for its long marriages.”

In 2001, the two met at a party in Sydney.

Olive, 13, Elula, 10, and Montgomery, five, are their three children, whom they married in March 2010.
