Isla Fisher’s surprising Home And Away confession

Isla Fisher has made an unexpected revelation regarding her role as Shannon on Home And Away, 24 years after she left the show.

Isla Fisher has had a great career both in Australia and in Hollywood in the 24 years since she left Home And Away, but she admits she has considered returning to the serial that made her famous.

Fisher, 45, starred in 345 episodes of Home And Away from 1994 to 1997, as Shannon, a schoolgirl. After she departed, her Hollywood career took off, with appearances in films like Wedding Crashers and Confessions of a Shopaholic.

Now, the mother of three, who married comedian Sacha Baron Cohen in 2010, says she’s considered returning to Summer Bay.

In a new interview with Yahoo! Lifestyle, she said, “Of course I’ve considered it!”

“I thought to myself, ‘Wouldn’t it be hilarious?’ However, the fact is that you must provide plenty of warning, then it must be written down, and finally you must commit.

“But, obviously, it would be wonderful at some time to just go past with a surfboard or anything.”

Given that Fisher and Baron Cohen apparently departed Sydney, where the programme is filmed, for locked-up Western Australia in September, it may be difficult for her to return to the serial anytime soon.

The couple and their three children allegedly moved west to Perth, where they will now dwell, less than a year after moving from LA to Bondi.

According to The Age at the time, their choice to make a permanent home on Australia’s West Coast was motivated by a desire to “leave” Sydney’s then-lockdown.

Fisher was spotted in a café in Inglewood, Perth, shortly after the news broke, where she was attempting to maintain a low profile, even giving the barista the fictitious name of ‘Simone’ for her order.

Fisher, 45, was born in Oman but spent his childhood in Perth before migrating to Sydney to appear in Home And Away.

In a March interview with Stellar, she discussed her ties to Australia.

“It makes me feel so protected.” When I’m in Australia, I think the term is cosy. She explained, “It’s where I grew up.”

“When I’m at home, I’m the happiest.” When I’m not here, I miss it. When I’m in Australia, I don’t feel any pressure. I’m not required to say, do, or be anything. I don’t even have to put on shoes.”

In other Home And Away news, actress Sam Frost has announced her departure from the show, months after courting controversy by publicly stating her opposition to Covid vaccines.
