Home and Away’s Felicity Newman makes positive step in devastating storyline

Next week, Felicity Newman from Home and Away will take a significant step as she tries to recover from her traumatic assault.

Felicity will attend the Battle of the Bands tournament to cheer on Lyrik as they perform in scenes that will air in the UK this week. But after someone spikes her drink and she passes out, the night takes a horrible turn for her. When she regains consciousness, she realises that she has been sexually abused.

In scenes that will be shown on Channel 5 in the UK the following week, Felicity avoids questioning from her alarmed husband Tane Parata. She tries to seduce Tane instead of opening up when he presses her to.

Tane, however, resists her approaches as he is aware of his wife’s vulnerability in the wake of the terrible incident. Felicity, on the other hand, interprets this as a rejection and is upset with Tane since she believes he doesn’t want her.

Later, at Salt, Felicity has an excessive response when she notices a drink left unattended and declares that going forwards, everyone must purchase their own beverages. Tane feels upset to see his wife going through such a difficulty, but he is unable to communicate with her.

Felicity starts to believe that after the incident, Tane has lost interest in her. She berates her husband, complaining that all she wants to do is go on with her life but he can’t.

Tane tells Cash Newman, Felicity’s brother, that he is trying to reach out to her but that she is shutting down and pushing him away.

Eden Fowler informs Tane that Felicity is worried about losing him after their conversation. Tane intervenes right away, pleading with Felicity not to end her life.

Finally, Tane reassures Felicity that they will get through this together when she tells her husband that she is willing to try counselling.

Has Felicity made progress?

Felicity’s actor, Jacqui Purvis, recently discussed the plot in an exclusive interview with Digital Spy, describing how her character will feel “trauma” and “grief” after the assault.

“Flick has a tendency to sexualise herself as a reaction. She doesn’t want to come out as “used” and “dirty.” She said of Felicity’s reaction in the next scenes, “She still wants to be sexual because she doesn’t want Tane to think that she’s those things.

According to the actor, the tale “does really help us to get another insight into Felicity and Tane’s beautiful relationship, show how strong it is and show that they’re always there for one another.” The actress also said that the intense plot will give fans a closer look into Flick’s marriage to Tane.
