Home and Away’s Dan Ewing rubbishes claims he talks about himself in the third person after footage from SAS Australia went viral

Dan Ewing has retaliated after being ridiculed for speaking about himself in the third person at his SAS Australia debut earlier this month.

The 36-year-old former Home and Away star claims that people do not understand how television works and clarifies that he does not speak in this manner in real life.

‘I worry about any Aussie who hasn’t worked out how TV works by now and who genuinely believes I talk about myself in the third person,’ he said on the Imperfectly Perfect podcast.

‘I mean, I’ve never done anything like this before.’ ‘What makes you think I’m going to start now?’ he added.

Dan also feels that viewers aren’t receiving an accurate portrayal of what transpired on the set of Seven’s military-style show.

The editing, he added, had “more stitch-ups than a patchwork quilt.”

After he inexplicably referred to himself in the third person during his introductory video package, fans ridiculed the actor.

‘Entering the SAS selection process is a fascinating experience. There is no acting involved. ‘My name is Dan Ewing,’ he introduced himself.

‘So, what does Dan Ewing do when he doesn’t get enough sleep? What will Dan do if he hasn’t eaten, is extremely cold, and is being yelled at and called all kinds of names?

‘How does Dan Ewing react when he’s up against a brick wall?’

‘Well, unless they follow me on social media, some people could remember me better as Heath Braxton from Home and Away or Cap from Love and Monsters,’ Dan said when asked how he thinks fans would react to his completing the course.

‘So it’ll be intriguing for them to watch, to think about what Dan Ewing will do when he’s up against the wall, when he hasn’t eaten, when he hasn’t had any sleep.’

Viewers took to Twitter to mock his monologue, with one asking, “Why is Dan Ewing talking about himself in the third person?”

‘I had no idea who Dan Ewing was until he repeated his name numerous times,’ added another.

A third tweeted, ‘Dan Ewing loves to talk about Dan Ewing a lot,’ while a fourth asked, ‘Why does Dan Ewing speak in third person?’ ‘Because he’s a performer.’

Dan, like his fellow SAS trainees, was forced to strip down during the show’s season opener after being exposed to tear gas in a confined tent.

‘I have nothing to prove doing SAS; I’m doing SAS because I want to,’ he continued in his introduction.

‘I’m extremely good with my mental and spiritual health, and I keep my emotions in check,’ she says.

Dan is best known for his role as Heath Braxton in the Australian soap opera Home and Away, which he played from 2010 until 2014.

On Monday at 7.30 p.m., Channel Seven will air a new episode of SAS Australia.
