Home and Away star Lynne McGranger spills on late-night Logies wardrobe disaster

Lynne McGranger, the star of Home and Away, had a wonderful Logies night, and not just because her programme took home the prise for Most Popular Drama.

The Australian TV industry legend will recall the occasion for another, wholly unrelated reason in addition to that coveted honour.

The adored actress, who plays Irene Roberts on the venerable programme, made a quick pit stop at the Logies afterparty before returning to her hotel room to call it a night.

Lynne’s clothing, unfortunately, had other ideas.

She tells 7Life, “When I got back to the room, I realised I couldn’t undo myself.”

“The top portion of my outfit was boned, and I immediately thought, ‘Oh no, s***, what am I going to do?'”

“I was going to call our PR to ask for help getting undone, but I heard someone in the hallway, so I hurried out.

“When I noticed a door close, I realised it belonged to housekeeping, so I thought, ‘Oh that’s good, a lady will help get me out of it!'”

But after that, a man emerged and exclaimed, “Oh, I know you!

‘Yeah, well, you’re about to know me a hell of a lot more,’ I replied. Please open the top’s zipper.

“He responded,’sure!’

“I mean, I made sure it was in the hallway, so he undid me, and after I thanked him, he said, ‘I love the show!'”

Mind you, this happened around one in the morning.

Regarding her attire, Lynne remarked that she had really wanted to wear something lively and cheery for the event.

He referred her to the designer Diane Lewis when she met with celebrity stylist Danny Gallela to discuss a mother of the bride costume for her daughter’s upcoming wedding.

She quips, “I don’t enjoy wearing black or white because if I wear white, I’m an accident waiting to happen.

I was considering yellow, but when Diane entered the room with a sample of this stunning chartreuse, I exclaimed, “Oh my god, I love it!”

“I wanted a pantsuit with some glitz up top,” the wearer said.

She is known to frequently spill things on white clothing, therefore it was necessary to enquire whether she had done the same with her chartreuse apparel.

I did manage to dump a whole glass of soda water on it, but since the material wasn’t porous, it just sort of ran off, she admits.

“And Shane Withington, a fellow Home and Away actor, was desperately attempting to sponge me down.

It had to have appeared terribly improper!

Fortunately, though, it didn’t appear as I stood up to give out an award.

But I’m relieved I didn’t have a bottle of red wine nearby.
