Since Mali (Kyle Shilling) and Rose (Kirsty Marillier) only recently got back together after their prior breakup earlier this year due to having different moral standards, Mali’s casual declaration of his love for her surprises Rose.
After Rose tries to find a way for Mali to continue his surfing lessons, she makes the shocking announcement. Since saving Roo (Georgie Parker) and John (Shane Withington) from being blown to pieces a few weeks ago, Mali has been sidelined due to a ruptured eardrum.
Mali’s injuries was quite minor, but the need to avoid the water has endangered his ability to support himself. The majority of Mali’s income comes from the surfing lessons, even though he only took over the board shop four months ago. The shop itself is still open.
Mali’s recurrent dizzy spells caused a near-disaster when he fell while trying to get back on his board out of desperation, going against medical advice and doing so with an earplug in to prevent any harm. He was definitely not going to make that error again!
Mali began personally contacting each of his consumers to explain the issue as he did it with a heavy heart.
Mali has so far declined any financial assistance, but the president of the surf club Alf (Ray Meagher) has been generous enough to hold off on the shop’s rent until Mali is back in the water.
Housemate Mackenzie’s (Emily Weir) unsuccessful attempt to pay his share of the rent, and Mali has assured Rose that he won’t turn to his family for help. Despite his family’s objections, he was determined to open this board shop independently after leaving Mantaray Point, and he isn’t about to return to them with a finished product and risk being perceived as a failure.
A preview for this week’s episodes suggests that Mali’s pals may have the ideal solution as his financial difficulties persist.
In her conversation with her brother Xander (Luke Van Os), Rose expresses her concern for Mali. Xander then goes to the farmhouse to speak with Mali on his own.
“What are you going to do? You obviously don’t want to lose your business.” Mali, who seemed to be unsure of how to answer, is questioned.
like night, as Xander, Rose, Mackenzie, and Mali meet to debate alternatives, it appears like Xander has an epiphany.
Come on, he says, “it’s obvious.” while the others stare at him bewildered.
The surf classes have resumed the next day, according to a sign on the beach.
Mali is keeping an eye on everyone, and Xander and veteran surfer Mac are assisting with the practical parts. Xander is on the beach instructing another group of kids in the fundamentals of popping up on the board while Mac carries one of the pupils in from the surf.
Rose approaches ecstatically, and he hugs her as Mali stands by and grinned widely.
He tells her, “If it wasn’t for you, none of this would have happened.”
Mali then adds, “Love you,” before he runs over to Xander to thank him for his assistance.
Rose is left wondering: Was that merely a passing expression of devotion, or was Mali genuinely moving their relationship forwards…?
We can be certain that Rose will overthink the situation, but will this unintentionally present the two with a fresh challenge or will Rose choose to return Mali’s favour?
