Mercedes Da Silva, who rides a motorcycle and plays the violin, came in Summer Bay on Friday (July 21), and her reunion with Remi Carter (Adam Rowland) has people talking.
Home and Away is introduced to the attractive rock chick, who is portrayed by 35-year-old Amali Golden, as Lyrik’s “secret weapon” Remi believes would help them win Battle of the Bands.
Remi told Bree (Juliet Godwin) that he had recruited a violinist to perform with them on stage after calling an urgent band meeting.
And when Stephanie Panozzo’s character Eden Fowler realised it was Mercedes, she lost it.
The Daily Star has taken a peek at Amali’s life outside of the drama as viewers wait to learn more about the past Mercedes has with Remi and Eden.
Performing career
Amali entered the second season of Australian Idol as a 16-year-old and made the top 12.
She released her own independent CD after placing 10th, toured Australia, and performed at events like East Coast Blues & Roots and The Southern Roots.
Ten years later, Amali entered the X Factor Australia competition and attempted to impress the judges with her voice in an effort to restart her singing career.
The 25-year-old sang her own cover of Clean Bandit’s Rather Be during her audition in front of celebrity judges Redfoo, Dannii Minogue, Natalie Bassingthwaighte, and Ronan Keating.
Ronan, 46, a former member of Boyzone, acknowledged that he thought the music selection wasn’t appropriate for her.
He stated, “I don’t feel you put your best foot forwards with that song choice,” adding, “It wasn’t your comfort zone.”
She nevertheless succeeded in winning over the judges, and Ronan agreed with Dannii and Natalie in choosing to advance Amali to Bootcamp.
Marvel status
Amali has acted in a number of successful films, including Thor: Ragnorak, where she co-starred with Chris Hemsworth.
In the third installment of the superhero trilogy, the actress portrays Asguardian Date #2 in a brief cameo.
In 2020, Amali earned the role of Young Farida in the television series Bloom. She also starred with Luke Mitchell, a former Home and Away actor who played Romeo Smith from 2009 to 2013, in the horror movie Black Water: Abyss.
She played Ava alongside Dylan O’Brien in the action movie Love and Monsters that same year.
Amali has played the lead in a number of TV shows, including Claudia Jessie’s Bondi Slayer (2020), Wakefield (2021), and Bali 2002 (2022).
Her most recent on-screen appearance, aside from her role as Mercedes, was in the sci-fi series La Brea, where she played Catherine for two episodes.
Home life
Since December 2014, Amali has been wed to producer and music director Beau Golden.
In anticipation of the couple’s sixth wedding anniversary in 2020, Beau shared a romantic black and white photo of them holding hands with a sentimental remark.

The happy couple made their first child’s arrival known the same year, and daughter Juniper was born in February 2021.
