Viewers of Home and Away are anticipating a Cinderella moment. But this isn’t a rags-to-riches tale.
Ari Parata (Rob Kipa-Williams) and Mia Anderson (Anna Samson) race against the clock to get married on Home and Away during a heartbreaking week.
The couple had never been happier until late last year. After 20 years apart, the long-lost lovers reunited and were engaged.
But fast forward to now, and family barbecues on beautiful Summer Bay evenings are a thing of the past.
Ari is likely to spend the rest of his life in prison after falsely confessing to murder, and his cancer diagnosis means their happily ever after may be over.
The beloved character has been in prison for the murder of Matthew Montgomery for the past few weeks (James Sweeny).
Despite his previous history, Ari accepted responsibility for the crime in order to protect Mia and her daughter Chloe (Sam Barrett), who were both complicit in Matthew’s killing.
Ari was brought to the hospital with suspected appendicitis during Thursday’s triple bill, but Dr. Logan Bennett (Harley Bonner) reveals he is riddled with tumours for which there is no cure.
Mia is more determined than ever to marry the guy she loves now that she realises he is on borrowed time.
Ari’s family arrives at the hospital with a suit for a “family portrait,” which Ari quickly realises is a fake for a wedding when Mia, dressed in a lace gown, goes down the makeshift aisle in the hospital ward, with daughter Chloe on her side as bridesmaid.
Mia proposes to Ari right then and there. But, as his illness worsens, will he be able to fulfil his last wish of calling the woman he loves his wife? Will they be able to say “I do” before his time runs out? On Monday, 7pm on Channel 7 and 7plus, don’t miss the heartbreaking episode of Home and Away.
