Former Home and Away star Ditch Davey says he “couldn’t be prouder” of his son in a sweet birthday tribute

On his eleventh birthday, former Home and Away star Ditch Davey paid a touching tribute to his son Taika.

The 49-year-old adoring father praised his lookalike son on Instagram and uploaded a series of adorable throwback photos.

“My lovely boy, have a wonderful birthday! I’m very proud of who you are and what you’re becoming as a young man “He wrote.

“Taika, I congratulate you!! Happy 11th birthday to the coolest dude I’ve ever met! Dad X.”

Ditch’s old Summer Bay co-stars wished Taika a happy birthday, with Georgie Parker adding, “Happy birthday Taika.”

“These are the most amazing photographs!!!! HBD T!!!!! ❤️💫🤩” Sarah Roberts wrote, and Sam Frost and Emily Symons used heart emojis to spread the love.

Taika and his eldest son Eden, 18, are shared by Ditch and his wife Sophia Dunn, whom he married in 2010.

Ditch lit up when chatting about Taika with TV WEEK last year, describing him as a “very energetic” young guy.

“He’s been following me and has done a number of voice-over gigs recently, and he’s rather theatrical,” Ditch remarked.

“They used to come to set and play about with Nerf guns or raid the craft services table when [Taika and Eden] were a little younger.”

Ditch isn’t sure if this implies the 11-year-old will follow in his footsteps as an actor.

“I’m fine with kids forging their own path, whether they want to or not. To me, it’s more important that they grow up to be nice, happy individuals than anything else “he stated.

After landing the role of Dr. Christian Green in the soap, Ditch and his family migrated from Melbourne to Sydney in September 2020.

“I’ve spent a lot of my career working in a triangle pattern between Australia, New Zealand, and America, so I was fairly busy making those loops,” he previously told TV WEEK.

“Then this opportunity arose, and I thought, “Let’s do it.” I’ve always been adaptable in my work, so it was the character’s trajectory that attracted me in rather than anything else.”

In the midst of the global pandemic, the timing of the move brought both pain and solace to the family. Victoria was on the verge of a second COVID outbreak at the time, and the Home And Away cast was taking measures in NSW.
