In a new sneak peek from the set of Extraction 2, Chris Hemsworth is in for a wintry adventure.
Despite the fact that the previous film’s conclusion had fans dread the worst, the Marvel actor reprises his role as mercenary Tyler Rake in the sequel.
Director Sam Hargrave shared a video on Instagram marking the completion of the first day of filming. He didn’t say where the set was, but it appeared to be rather cold.
In the video, Hargrave says, “That’s a wrap on day one of Extraction 2 with the railway site.”
“We received a lot of snow today,” the director said, “but it looks really well on camera, so we’ll take it.”
When Rake was shot on screen by one of crimelord Asif’s associates and left for dead in a river at the end of the first film, his fate was left relatively uncertain.
However, a not-so-subtle clue was given in the film’s last scene that Hemsworth’s character had survived. In a vision by the abducted boy Ovi, a man who looks like Rake appears momentarily (Rudraksh Jaiswal).
Rake’s apparent death is depicted in the aftermath of a new teaser published in September, when he opens his eyes underwater. With the hashtag “#RakeLives” at the conclusion of the video, there’s little question that the character will make a dramatic reappearance in the sequel.
Hemsworth is reconnecting with Joe and Anthony Russo, who produced Avengers: Endgame. Joe also penned the screenplay for the next film, which has yet to get an official release date.
Extraction is now accessible on Netflix.
