Chris Hemsworth’s cousin Luke Van Os joins Home and Away and reveals the piece of advice his Hollywood star relative gave him ahead of his audition

Luke Van Os, Chris Hemworth’s younger cousin, will follow in his footsteps and make his Home and Away debut.

He told The Daily Telegraph on Thursday that he was thankful and fortunate that his Hemsworth cousins Chris, Liam, and Luke ‘paved the way’ for him and gave him an insight into the industry over the years.

The 24-year-old actor is related to the Hemworths through his father, who is Chris’ mother Leonie’s brother.

Luke said that he had a Zoom chat with Thor the night before his audition for the long-running soap.

‘The night before, I zoomed with Chris and we ran it (the scene) and sort of just got into a nice mood,’ he explained.

‘His advise was to be polite, put in the effort, and the job doesn’t stop now; in fact, now is the time to work hard,’ he continued.

This week, the actor began filming sequences for his character, Xander, who will make his cinematic debut next year.

Chris initially appeared as Kim Hyde on Home and Away in 2004.

He departed the long-running drama in 2007 and relocated to Los Angeles, where he landed a tiny role in Star Trek: The Next Generation in 2009.

His Marvel career began in 2010 when he was cast as Thor.

He has also appeared in Bad Times at the El Royale, Ghostbusters, and Men in Black: International, in addition to the Marvel Cinematic Universe films.

Chris and his actress wife Elsa Pataky now live in Byron Bay, on the NSW North Coast, with their three children – daughter India, nine, and twin sons Tristan and Sasha, seven – after migrating from Los Angeles in 2014.
