Get ready, Home and Away fans: two new’sisters’ are on their way to Summer Bay.
And it has been revealed that the two have a connection to a beloved character from the Channel 7 drama.
Harper and Dana are the new characters, and Jessica Redmayne and Ally Harris have been cast in the roles.
Both women just relocated to Sydney to become part of the Home and Away family.
“Everyone was extraordinarily warm and welcoming,” Jessica, who portrays Harper, says of the group.
“And I’m very fortunate to be working for such a wonderful group of people, because it’s a pleasure to come to work every day.”
Jessica recalls a great experience on her first day on set when Lynne urged her to “be herself” after watching actress Lynne McGranger on the show “quite religiously” as a child.
“I remember the first day I walked onto the set of Lynne’s house, it was quite extraordinary – it’s like I was living that dream,” she recalls.
Meanwhile, Ally, who plays Dana, says she “knew some faces vaguely” when she arrived on set, giggling that she had auditioned for some of her now-castmates’ parts.
“I knew Juliet Godwin slightly because we both come from a very similar area of Perth,” she adds of the actress who portrays Dr. Bree Cameron.
“She was a couple of years my senior in high school.
“However, everyone in the cast was excessively friendly. I remember them telling me at the callback that it was like a family, and I was like, ‘sure, sure, yeah’.
“But once you’re inside, it’s truly a family.”
“And it’s not just the cast, but the crew, the make-up, the costumes… everyone.”
When Jessica and Ally’s arrival was revealed on Thursday, some of the cast members welcomed them with Instagram pictures.
“Ally and Jessica, welcome to spending a LOT of time with us. “We’re lucky to have you,” Georgie Parker said on Instagram, alongside a series of images from the set with the newcomers and actor Ethan Brown.
“Welcome to the show, legends Jessica and Ally!” Ethan elaborated.
Meanwhile, Lynne said on her stories, “Welcome to the cast,” and posted a photo of herself with Jessica and Ally.
Fans will have to wait until Thursday, August 10 to find out more about Harper and Dana.
Meanwhile, Jessica revealed more about her character Harper, saying she is “very protective of her little sister.”
“She goes above and beyond to protect her little sister because she adores and loves her.”
“She’s sympathetic, but set in her ways.” I believe Harper is the more conservative sister, whereas Dana is the more flexible, lives-life-on-the-edge sibling.”
Ally concurs, stating that they are “opposite to one another.”
“Dana is definitely more idealistic and perhaps more of a romantic thinker than Harper.”
“I believe they frequently clash because of their different values and approaches to situations.”
Both moved to Sydney for the new phase, and Ally said it was “great to do it with someone.”
Ally moved from Perth to Sydney, while Jessica left Melbourne for the harbour city.
“Moving is always tricky, and it was a very quick one,” Ally explains.
“Home and Away is a well-oiled machine with a lot of moving parts and new things to learn.”
“Having someone by your side was extremely beneficial, and it’s always nice to have a friend.”
