Actress Lynne McGranger of Home and Away admits she was frightened to write her memoir Acting Up.
The 68-year-old expressed concern to TV Week that she might forget her youth in the 1970s and 1980s.
‘Writing it has been scary, and I wasn’t sure I’d remember anything — I had much too much fun in the 1970s and 1980s!’ she remarked.
‘However, the pieces fell into place, and I was able to find my voice in it.’
While some people may not enjoy Lynne’s book, she believes it presents her life in an honest and genuine manner.
Lynne’s memoir is expected to be a shocker, since the actress discusses her prior marijuana use and weight issue in the book.
Lynne, who quit taking marijuana and cigarettes in 2005, told The Daily Telegraph in October that she had a significant habit – and even worked while high.
‘I’ve done stoned theatre, but not Home And Away.’ ‘I didn’t drink,’ she explained,’so that was my wine.’
Lynne, who has been playing Irene Roberts on the serial series for almost 28 years, admitted to growing the illicit plant in her backyard.
‘It’ll be really scandalous, and it wasn’t even close’ (of marijuana). I smoked a lot of marijuana. It was fantastic. ‘I’d smoke joints,’ she said.
Between the ages of 15 and 28, the actress confessed that she struggled with bulimia.
‘I had a type of bulimia where you binge and then take laxatives instead of vomiting,’ she explained.
‘At the time, it seemed like a decent idea.’ I now realise it was a sort of bulimia, although it had no term at the time.’
