There are rumours circulating that one of Home & Away’s most adored stars may be making a comeback.
Kate Ritchie, who portrayed Sally Fletcher on the classic Australian drama for 20 years, is allegedly in talks to make a cameo appearance on the show.
According to New Idea, Ritchie has been requested to appear at some point next year.
The news comes after the actress was seen reunited with her old co-star Ray Meagher, alias Alf Stewart.
The Nova radio host has suggested that she would like to return to the show and the part that launched her career, stating that she will “always feel tied to Home and Away.”
Earlier this year, on Anh Do’s Brush With Fame, the TV and radio personality fought back tears as she revealed she was “lost” and needed counselling after leaving Home and Away.
“I needed to figure out if I was more than that (character),” she explained.
“She gave me a feeling of purpose and accomplishment because I used to believe, and I still do after a lot of treatment, that the only worthwhile thing I’d ever done in my life was when I was her.”
“She’d been my best friend for 20 years, and I no longer had any ties to her as of that day.”
Ritchie then stated she felt “lost” and worried how she would “survive without (Sally)” in a brief video shared to her Instagram.
“How would people react to me if I wasn’t Sally?” she wondered.
“Because, you know, Sally was a wonderful lady.” She was a wonderful friend, a wonderful daughter, and a wonderful person.
“Did they… only care about me because they liked her?” Without this wonderful item, I’m just me. I think the best thing to come out of it all, and I can say this now, a year later, is that I’m fine without her.”
