Levi will have to hurry to save Mackenzie’s life in the 2023 season finale of Home and Away when she has yet another medical catastrophe!
A few weeks prior, Felicity (Jacqui Purvis) and Mackenzie Booth (Emily Weir) were having a heated disagreement in Salt when Mackenzie grasped her chest and fell on the ground, complaining that she couldn’t breathe.
Fortunately, there was assistance from suspended police officer Cash (Nicholas Cartwright) and former nurse Xander (Luke Van Os). Cash hurried downstairs to retrieve the defibrillator, and then he and Xander alternated in applying chest compressions until an ambulance could come.
Bree (Juliet Godwin) seemed perplexed by Mac’s condition and couldn’t even determine if she had had a heart attack when she was taken to Northern Districts Hospital. Everything simply didn’t stack up.
The uncertainty surrounding Mackenzie’s condition was terrifying, and she broke down in tears when Tane (Ethan Browne) and Mali (Kyle Shilling) paid her a visit.
In an attempt to get guidance or a recommendation, Bree called a friend. However, the phone was answered by Dr. Levi Fowler (Tristan Gorey), one of the district’s cardiothoracic surgeons, who arrived at Northern Districts eager to investigate further.
Levi discovered that Mackenzie had experienced a spontaneous coronary artery dissection (SCAD), a rare rip in the wall of a coronary artery that delivers blood to the heart, following additional testing and an operation.
Mackenzie was informed by Dr. Levi that although the condition’s aetiology remains unknown, he had successfully repaired the tear, and she still had her entire life ahead of her.
Levi clarified that Mackenzie would need to reduce her speed. The businesswoman and owner of Salt would not be accustomed to the rigors rest and recovery that she would need.
When the new physician noticed that she was growing agitated, he even made the decision to spend an evening with her in her hospital room, keeping her company by making her watch his favourite game show.
However, it appears that Mackenzie isn’t out of the woods just yet, despite Levi’s best attempts. She will be in danger once more in a few weeks as part of this year’s season finale, according to TV Week.
Mac is ready to go home this week; he can no longer stand being confined to the hospital.
She asks Xander to check at her file. Xander was a nurse at Northern Districts before he and his coworker Jamie were accosted by two robbers attempting to steal drugs from their ambulance.
After Xander looks everything over, he appears positive, and Mackenzie leaves the hospital after receiving his clearance.
Later, Levi gets upset with Xander for giving Mackenzie false hope, but Mackenzie returns to the farmhouse because what’s done is done.
Nevertheless, Mac grips her chest during the night, thinking she’s having another heart attack. When she shouts out for her roommate Tane, he immediately runs to her and drives her back to the hospital.
Levi evaluates her at Northern Districts and concludes that she was simply experiencing a panic attack. Although he advises her to remain for additional evaluation, Mackenzie is adamant about returning home right away.
But the next morning, as Levi is wrapping up his shift, Mackenzie is hurried back in, and this time, Xander is right behind her, calling for assistance.
This is serious—another heart attack!
As he gets ready to work once more, Levi assures Mackenzie’s friends—who soon assemble—that he will do all within his power. But he’s expecting the worse.
