‘Agh this is so nerve wracking,’ one viewer wrote of the sneak peek.
Fans of Home and Away have expressed their dismay on social media as a new teaser depicts a cherished character fighting for life in a harrowing moment.
Shane Withington’s character John Palmer, who has been around since 2009, barely avoided a recent bomb explosion that tore through Summer Bay.
Kyle Shillings’s character, Mali, who played ohn, warned him to the fact that the bomb was in the back of his van and helped the adored character escape with barely enough time to spare, spared the cherished character’s life.
However, he immediately experienced chest pains that grew worse over time.
A sobering new trailer now reveals just how terrible things become for John, with the beloved character gasping for air in a hospital.
The sneak peek shows Dr Bree Cameron, played by Juliet Godwin, looking on in shock as monitors show his heart flatlining.
“Bree, is he alright? Bree what’s happening? John? John!” Irene, played by Lynne McGranger, can be heard yelling in the clip as the machine let out an ominous long beep.
Fans of the hit Channel 7 series took to social media following the trailer’s release to discuss it.
“Why is Bree just standing there doing nothing?!” one asked of the tense moment.
“He’s the best character on Home and Away! ❤️” another fan wrote, as a third agreed, “I hope John is okay, he is my favourite”.
“Agh this is so nerve wracking, hope he is okay,” added a user.
“Geez hasn’t John had enough bad stuff? He had the stroke a few years back and had to be rehabilitated…” said another fan.
The character suffered a heart attack in 2010, before having a brain tumour between 2016 and 2017 and then a stroke in 2020.
