Sam Frost, who starred in the classic series Home and Away, is said to have received two COVID shots just months after leaving the show.
In a heartbreaking Instagram post last year, Sam, who played Jasmine Delaney, disclosed she had not been vaccinated.
When she compared the treatment of unvaccinated persons to “segregation,” she prompted a backlash in some places.
Sam’s departure from the show was revealed by Channel 7 last month.
However, Sam’s former co-star Lynne McGranger, who portrays Irene Roberts on the long-running soap, has revealed that her vaccination status had changed, and that she was now double or “maybe” triple-vaccinated.
‘Policy of open doors’
Lynne remarked on Monday’s Fitzy & Wippa radio show that there was a “open door” when it came to the potential of Sam returning to the programme.
“Of course, there were some challenges getting vaccinated,” Lynne explained, “but I’m here to inform you she is now double-vaccinated, perhaps boosted as well.”
“She needed to be with her family (in Melbourne), but she is welcome to return at any time.”
“With the way she’s now gone from the Bay, there’s lots of room for her to return, and I’m sure she’s in talks with the producers right now.”
In December, Channel 7 said it “supported” Sam’s choice to leave the show in a statement to 7NEWS.com.au.
“Sam leaves with our heartfelt gratitude and best wishes for the future,” stated a spokeswoman.
According to reports, the actor’s resignation had nothing to do with the network’s vaccination policy.
Sam posted a since-deleted Instagram video two months before leaving Home and Away, lamenting about unvaccinated individuals being treated unfairly and pleading for “compassion” and “empathy.”
“I feel like the world is coming to a stage now where there’s a lot of division and harsh judgement, and it’s taking a toll on my mental health,” Sam told her fans.
“There are a variety of reasons why people don’t get vaccinated, including their medical history, their worries, their family history, religious beliefs, and so on.”
“I want to inform those people who feel like they’re being cut off from society – I’m not vaccinated, and there’s a reason for it,” she explained. “I’ve talked to my doctor and my psychologist about it, and I’m going to keep it private.”
Her remark, however, generated outrage in some places, causing her to deactivate her Instagram account for the time being.
Fans were concerned about Sam’s apparent weight loss when she returned to social media, which she claimed was caused by anxiety and stress in the aftermath of the scandal.
Fans reacted positively to Sam’s message, praising her for her candour despite the reaction she had received.
One individual wrote, “You are not alone in how you feel.”
“I appreciate your bravery. Another person said, “You are my hero.”
