Neighbours star Georgie Stone to premiere documentary at Tribeca Film Festival

Georgie Stone, star of Neighbours, will present a very personal short documentary at the Tribeca Film Festival this summer in New York City.

The Dreamlife of Georgie Stone is a documentary that follows the 21-year-old from childhood to adulthood, advocating for the agency of transgender children and adolescents in determining their own identity decisions.

Georgie is the youngest person in Australia to be treated with hormone blockers, and she successfully lobbied for a change in the law.

“Georgie has so much to teach the world about identity, the vast spectrum of gender, determination, how to love, listen, and the value of accepting each other for who we are,” director Maya Newell said in a statement (via if.com).

“Really pleased to report that a documentary I made – The Dreamlife of Georgie Stone – is scheduled to Premiere at Tribeca Film Festival in New York this June!!!!” Stone wrote on Instagram earlier this week. Later this year, @dreamlifefilm will also be available on @netflix.

“Thank you so much @mayadonna @closerproductions @unquietcollective and everyone involved in making this a reality [heart emoji] – I’m really proud of this film (we’ve been filming it for years!!!) – thank you so much @mayadonna @closerproductions @unquietcollective and everyone involved in making this a reality [heart emoji].”

Alan Fletcher, a member of the Neighbours ensemble who recently released his own single, praised the actress, saying, “This is great Georgie.” “Congratulations.”

On Wednesday, June 8, the Tribeca Film Festival will begin in New York City.
