As Terese exits, Lucy and Chelsea catch her running over to console Paul in his hour of need. When Terese comes home to an anxious Toadie who doesn’t know where Terese has been, she tells her first big lie of her marriage by fabricating a tale to explain her absence.
For confiding in Melanie about his dissatisfaction with Terese and her empathy for Paul, Toadie is carrying his own guilt complex.
When Karl learns that Toadie has selected his ex-wife as a confidante, he becomes uneasy and gently warns Toadie that Terese would view it as a serious betrayal if she ever found out.
Later, Chelsea “accidentally” tells Toadie that Terese went to see Paul the night before in an effort to get under Terese’s skin. Feeling upset and shocked, Toadie goes straight to the Kennedy residence and confides in Melanie once more.
Paul, meanwhile, is at his lowest point as he tries to accept his role in David’s demise. Lucy realises she can’t leave Paul in his current state, even if it will be extremely difficult to balance her obligations to her family and her job when she returns to the US.
Remi makes it quite evident that Chelsea is using their space on borrowed time as they continue to spar. Chelsea seizes the chance to move in with Paul Robinson after Lucy confides in her about how frustrating it is that she has stay in Australia to care for Paul.
