On Home and Away, Sunrise weatherman Sam Mac made his acting debut.
And the Channel 7 personality was keen to show off his efforts on Instagram, posting an edited composite of all 47 words he said during his brief stint.
In the caption, Sam threw a jab at his Sunrise coworker David ‘Kochie’ Koch, referencing the host’s own 2007 debut on the show.
‘Here it is,’ the host wrote. ‘All 47 words I spoke on @homeandaway in a premium collectors edition box set’.
He quipped, ‘Not that it’s a competition, but it’s 45 words longer than Kochie’s 2007 appearance.’
Sunrise reporter Edwina said that ‘@lynnemcgranger deserves a Logie for that scenario alone,’ according to another Channel 7 stablemate.
In the long-running drama, Granger portrays Irene Roberts.
During Wednesday’s Sunrise programme, Sam jokingly reminded viewers that presenter Koch had a two-line appearance in 2007’s Home and Away.
He then proceeded to broadcast Kochie’s lacklustre performance, which included him socialising near the Summer Bay surf club’s bar.
Kochie is shown with a stubby in his hand and saying, “Yeah sure.”
‘That’s it!’ Sam said, mocking Kochie for his blink-and-you’ll-miss-it moment. That is all there is to it. ‘It’s only two words!’
Producers ordered Kochie, 65, to mouth the phrase “watermelon” over and again since “you’re not permitted to make a noise while you’re talking,” he explained.
Sam, who featured as a ‘VIP guest’ at a Summer Bay gala on Wednesday night’s episode, stated that he, unlike Kochie, will not remain in the background in his parts.
He joked, ‘You’ll see that tonight, I was truly acting!’
Viewers of Home And Away will see a charity event in Summer Bay turn into a tragedy after a mystery intruder launches a chemical assault through the air vents.
Sam appeared in a promotional clip for the episode, wearing a suit and tie and being referred to as “the VIP” by spectators when he arrived at the posh event.
Home And Away returns to Seven on Wednesday at 7:00 p.m.
