Jay Bruno, Sam Frost’s ex-boyfriend, has revealed the genuine reason for their abrupt breakup, confessing the couple “simply didn’t fit.”
Last year, the former Home and Away star and the personal trainer/drummer were involved for a few months before calling it quits.
Jay, 34, admitted that he was the one who ended their relationship, and that he hasn’t kept in touch with Sam because he doesn’t want to give her false hope of a reconciliation.
“It’s certainly difficult because you care about the other person,” he told Sydney Confidential. “But people break up all the time, and I didn’t want to lead her on, so I moved on.”
“It’s fairly straightforward; I just couldn’t see a future with her.”
Jay relocated from his Melbourne home to Sam’s townhouse in Sydney’s inner west, according to the Sun-Emerald Herald’s City column last year.
Sources close to the couple alleged at the time that “their relationship took a romantic turn during lockdown,” but Sam informed the outlet that they were “simply friends” who shared a home.
On the upcoming season of Survivor Australia: Blood versus Water, Jay will be pitted against Sam’s younger brother Alex, in an odd turn of events.
“I had to have someone close to family in Blood v Water, and he was at the time,” Jay remarked, adding that he and Alex are “absolutely” still friends.
“Being there together added an exciting factor because we didn’t know what would happen. It was a little more surprising and enjoyable as a result.”
This isn’t Jay’s first excursion into reality television. In 2019, the trainer and his former girlfriend, model Leah Johnsen, appeared on season two of Instant Hotel.
Jay is also known for co-hosting the Jay, Foz & Alex radio show with Alex Nation from Bachelor in Paradise.
Jay has now moved on and is currently dating Ellyn McCartney, an influencer and pilates instructor.
“She’s probably the only girl I’ve met who’s funnier than me,” he remarked, praising her.
