Three months after Johnny Ruffo’s sad cancer death, his girlfriend Tahnee Sims posted a sorrowful tribute on social media.
Tahnee, 30, posted some recent photos of her life without Johnny on Instagram on Sunday along with a heartfelt message.
The American novelist Anne Lamott was quoted as saying, ‘You will lose someone you can’t live without, and your heart will be horribly crushed, and the terrible news is that you never truly got over the loss of your lover’.
But the good news is that this as well. They never go away from your damaged heart because it never closes again.
“And you succeed.” It’s similar to having a broken leg that never fully heals; even in the winter, it still hurts, but you learn to move with the limp.
Tahnee’s admirers were quick to express their support and affection.
Veteran of Home and Away Lynne McGranger commented, “It’s so good to see you smiling again.”
Another follower wrote, “Good to see you have lovely people around you, lifting you up.”
It occurs three months after Johnny passed away quietly in the company of his loved ones and his lifelong companion Tahnee.
Following a medical visit for excruciating headaches in 2017, Johnny was initially diagnosed with brain cancer.
He had a 7cm brain tumour surgically removed from his frontal lobe in August of that year after being sent for chemotherapy and radiation treatment.
After receiving his first diagnosis in 2017, Johnny experienced months of remission until disclosing in November 2020 that the illness had resurfaced.
He disclosed in August 2022 that his brain cancer was terminal and expressed concern about Tahnee, his partner, handling his loss.
Johnny, who was born in the Balcatta area of Perth, got his start in show business in 2011 when he made it through the audition process for The X Factor Australia’s third season.
Ruffo was the final competitor ousted from the tournament, which Reece Mastin ultimately won, having been mentored by Guy Sebastian.
After that, Johnny pursued a career in music, putting out a number of successful singles, such as Take It Home and On Top.
However, he is most renowned for playing the beloved Chris Harrington on Home and Away from 2013 to 2016.
In 2020, he also had an appearance on Neighbours, the rival serial opera.
