Former Home And Away actor Luke Jacobz has wed Raychel Stuart after the pandemic lockdowns twice postponed their initial wedding plans.
Since they became engaged in 2018, Luke has lost hope that Raychel will become his wife. But on June 3 at Sydney’s Centennial Park, they said “I do” in front of 32 guests.
Luke and Raychel told New Idea about their private day, which had been kept a secret for a full month.
The bride was led down the aisle by her future mother-in-law’s partner, John, after both newlyweds lost their fathers and Raychel’s brothers from Los Angeles were unable to go.
According to Luke, John was “just completely blown away” to be asked to do it. It was an especially memorable moment.
What happened when Raychel turned around and spotted her future husband waiting at the end of the aisle? She will never forget that “dreamlike” and “unreal” moment.
She admitted to New Idea that “all the pieces together were just so beautiful.”
Luke’s favourite moment, though, was when he picked up his new wife and kissed her.
“I was a hot mess. We’d been waiting so long for it to happen that when I saw Raychel, I simply broke down. I used every tissue, contrary to what was intended and not Raychel,” he admitted.
Even though they had been planning the lovely event since 2018, there were still a few problems along the road. Raychel required a completely new dress because her old one malfunctioned and she was unwell in the months before to the wedding.
The couple’s favourite Indian restaurant in North Sydney, Lavendra, hosted the reception following the small ceremony, which had a stunning view of the Harbour Bridge.
