Home and Away star admits she was ‘scared’ to explore Felicity’s tragic new story

Next week, an upsetting new storyline involving Felicity Newman being sexually attacked on a night out will be featured on Home and Away.

In upcoming scenes that will run on Channel 5, Felicity is shown cheering on Lyrik at the Battle of the Bands competition. Felicity’s drink is spiked by an unidentified person, rendering her comatose.

Felicity realises she’s been sexually raped when she eventually regains consciousness.

She arrives at the hospital feeling devastated and is given consolation by her best friend Eden Fowler and the neighbourhood doctor Bree Cameron.

Jacqui Purvis, who plays Felicity, told Digital Spy that she was “grateful” writers allowed her character to explore this element while terrible scenes were about to air in the UK.

The show’s head writer, Lou, took me into her office and informed me that Flick would have a sexual assault plotline, the woman recalled. I was astonished and utterly terrified at first, but she helped me through everything.

“I felt so honoured that they even considered me capable. Because this issue requires a lot more representation on television, I was quite thankful for the opportunity to investigate it and spread awareness.

Thank goodness I found out right before our vacation, giving me two weeks to prepare.

The actress said she conducted extensive study before the narrative and also underwent rigors training with her acting coach to put herself in the correct state of mind.

She also disclosed the sad fact that she had pals who had endured similar terrible experiences.

Jacqui said that in order to better comprehend, she talked to her friends about their personal experiences.

The celebrity revealed that her pal had also taken GBH and was able to “talk me through the whole physicality of it” because of it.

Jacqui continued, “As Felicity comes to terms with the trauma and grief she has experienced, viewers will quickly notice a change in her behaviour.”

Tane, Felicity’s husband, will also be affected by the tragic event, but viewers will get to see the strength of their bond.
