This week on Australia’s Home and Away, Eden is compelled to intervene after Remi declines medical assistance, and Leah finds herself back at square one with Justin.
This week marks a significant milestone in Remi’s (Adam Rowland) recuperation as he is released from the hospital; nevertheless, his refusal to accept assistance may prove to be his undoing.
Two brothers, Wes (Josh McConville) and Mickey (Travis Jeffery), knocked Remi off his bike late last year. They were trying to dispose of his “body” when Eden (Stephanie Panozzo) occurred to intercept them.
Eden and Remi thus ended up crammed into the trunk of the brothers’ vehicle and taken prisoner in a distant estate. Once Mickey discovered that Remi was indeed still alive and Eden begged them to release him, he dropped Remi back on the side of the road and dialled 911.
Bree was upset when Remi was brought to Northern Districts Hospital and Levi (Tristan Gorey) took over and carried out a dangerous treatment to save his life.
Adam stated to TV Week that Remi suffered from severe internal haemorrhaging as a result of horrific blunt-force trauma to the heart. “Levi was only in town by mere happenstance, and he moved swiftly to execute an emergency cardiac thoracotomy—an operation that has a 20 percent survival rate.”
In the weeks that followed, Bree wouldn’t leave Remi’s side and made an effort to limit guest visits to reduce the danger of infection.
Bree delayed visiting her father because she was afraid of leaving Remi after finding out that he was on life support due to a serious brain injury sustained in a work-related accident.
Kirby (Angelina Thomson), to whom she had confided, ultimately betrayed her trust by telling Remi against her will. After a while, Bree came to the realisation that Kirby was correct to do so, and she decided to return to her hometown of Newcastle to be with her family after Remi assured her he would be alright.
Bree urged Kirby to promise her that she would keep her updated on Remi’s progress as she was leaving, but it was obvious that Remi was already hiding the full amount of his suffering from Bree because the moment his lover left, he requested Kirby to get a nurse.
As TV Week notes, Remi returned home to the Lyrik household this week and was instructed to monitor his pain and take it easy, just as Bree had instructed. Remi decides not to tell Bree that he’s been released from her when she calls him for an update since she thinks she will simply be concerned about his returning home so quickly.
Eden and Kirby, his roommates, are perplexed as to why he would withhold it from her, but instead of subjecting them to an interrogation, he advises them to be quiet and mind their own business. Both girls decide to maintain Remi’s secret for the time being because they don’t want to lie to Bree.
Even though Remi insists he doesn’t want assistance or for his friends to contact Bree, it becomes evident that he is still struggling with his pain. They realise they can’t stay silent any longer when they see Remi later, covered in perspiration, screaming in agony on the toilet floor.
Eden answers a potentially life-saving phone call, but will it be too late? Eden ignores Remi’s pleas.
Also this week, Leah (Ada Nicodemou) finds herself back at the beginning after making a hesitant attempt to get in touch with Justin (James Stewart).
Since returning from a mental health clinic, Leah has been residing at Summer Bay House since she doesn’t trust herself to live with Justin again after she threatened him with a knife during a psychotic episode brought on by insomnia.
When Valerie (Courtney Clarke), Leah’s roommate from the clinic, unexpectedly showed up in Summer Bay last week, she found it difficult to comprehend Leah’s situation—especially considering that many people don’t have someone they love to go home to.
Last week, Valerie was able to persuade Leah to ask Justin to remain for dinner; however, it appears that this has just made Justin more demanding. Justin has been loitering about the diner like a lovesick puppy, not taking the hint that he wants to take things slow, and he hopes to “bump into” Leah if she happens to stop by.
Even Irene cautioned him that Leah will soon figure out his scheme, pointing out that it was a little bit depressing, especially because she hasn’t officially gone back to work yet.
Justin chose to call around at Summer Bay House instead of going back to work at the garage. When he discovered that no one was home, he sat down outside and waited.
When Leah returns with Valerie and Marilyn (Emily Symons), she naturally isn’t too impressed to discover Justin waiting on the doorstep. This is how the scene is set up for tonight’s episode.
“I came here thinking the wrong thing, have I not?” He sits down with Leah and asks her.
Leah tells him, “I’m just not at the’show up whenever you want’ stage yet.”
When Justin finally gets back to work, he tells Theo that it’s beginning to seem like he and Leah might not be together forever.
But Valerie will be stopping by shortly to encourage Justin to keep trying for Leah.
Valerie begs Justin, “Please keep fighting.” “She’s just afraid,”
Valerie works with Leah once again after returning to Summer Bay House, telling her that she had previously stated she wanted to take things one step at a time and that perhaps it was time to really take one of those steps.
That night, it seems like Leah followed Valerie’s advise and invited Justin over once more. The two bid each other farewell on the backyard patio. Leah gives Justin a tentative shake of her hand, and for a brief period, she begins to kiss him back.
Out of nowhere, Leah panics and tells him to stop.
She implores him to “please just go” as she quickly enters and closes the door.
The episode synopses for later in the week indicate that Justin will receive an ultimatum from Leah. Is she threatening to call it quits, or is there another purpose in mind?
