In next week’s episode of Home and Away in the UK, Dean is compelled to take action against Ziggy when her first surfing lesson goes tragically wrong, while Ryder makes a costly error that threatens his and Chloe’s business…
Dean Thompson (Patrick O’Connor) has taken a long time and a lot of rehab to get back on his feet and return to work after his horrific automobile accident, but his first day back didn’t go as planned last week.
Dean managed to harm himself while merely doing minor duties on girlfriend Ziggy’s (Sophie Dillman) orders when he tried to break up an altercation between Chloe (Sam Barrett) and Bella (Courtney Miller) and was knocked over.
Despite Dean’s assurances to Ziggy that he was well and that returning to work would not jeopardise his rehabilitation, he quickly discovered that even confining himself to administration was proving to be a nightmare.
In Dean’s absence, Nikau Parata (Kawakawa Fox-Reo) has been assisting by running the board shop, and he was able to use his enormous internet profile from his modelling days to promote the board shop on his social media accounts.
Unfortunately, while the additional income from Nik’s advertising gave the needed consumers, Dean was having difficulty finding enough instructors to cover all of the additional surfing classes.
Despite having her hands full with her own profession, Ziggy, a fellow champion surfer, saw an opportunity to assist and agreed to take some classes. Despite his reservations, Dean accepted Ziggy’s offer because he knew she wouldn’t say no.
Ziggy arrives for her first class this week to find Dean and John (Shane Withington) waiting for her. John is taken aback by the latest development, remarking that surfing and teaching are two completely different things, and while Ziggy expresses his scepticism of her, she assures them both that it will be no problem.
Meanwhile, Lissa (Ashleigh Rubenach) and Jess (Chiara Osborn), Ziggy’s first two students, come to the board shop, evidently pleased to see Nikau behind the counter.
He schedules them and informs them that their instructor will arrive shortly, prompting the girls to voice their disappointment—isn’t Nik in the class? They explain that they just came to snap a selfie because Nik was there, and he reluctantly agrees.
When Dean and Ziggy arrive, Ziggy leads the now-disgruntled kids outside, but Nik follows when Dean orders him out to keep an eye on Ziggy.
Lissa and Jess are more interested in gushing over Nik and taking photos of him than listening to what Ziggy is actually telling them, so the lesson doesn’t go well.
As Ziggy becomes increasingly upset, she comes to the conclusion that if she brings the girls out out onto the water to learn, they will be forced to pay closer attention.
Nik is concerned about the idea because he knows Dean typically stays to the sand on his first session, but Ziggy believes that it is the only way.
Dean, unfortunately, appears to prefer dry land for good reason. When one of the females is hit in the head by one of the boards, Nik is forced to carry her to the seashore in his arms, much to the delight of both girls.
While Nik agrees not to tell Dean about what happened, the game is up when Lissa and Jess post photos of Nik’s’rescue’ all over their social media pages, where Dean promptly notices it.
The next morning, Ziggy is attempting to downplay the event when John arrives with an incident form for Dean to complete—as surf club manager, he has eyes and ears all over the place!
When Ziggy is out of the way, John tells Dean that the surf club can’t afford any more occurrences like that, especially if it involves involving the club’s lifeguards.
While Ziggy may be a fantastic surfer, she isn’t necessarily a good teacher, and he advises Dean to find elsewhere.
Dean recognises that John is correct—Ziggy must go—but how can he fire his own girlfriend?
Later that day, Dean musters the nerve to tell Ziggy that she’s been dismissed… and her response is entirely unexpected!
In other parts of Summer Bay, Ryder (Lukas Radovich) and Chloe keep a brave face despite their recent breakup and focus on running their business together.
Their web ratings have plummeted as a result of the mayhem that has erupted in recent weeks, and the couple must move quickly to prevent their company’s name from altogether vanishing.
With Ryder’s family going through so much difficulty right now, it’s even more crucial for Ryder and Chloe to get their obligation to them paid off as quickly as possible.
With a new batch of orders in hand, Chloe and Ryder place an order with their suppliers, only to discover that they are refusing to fill it due to an unpaid invoice.
Ryder agrees to deal with it and tries to smooth things over by agreeing to pay them $200 on the business credit card—but just as things appear to be getting back on track, Ryder makes a costly error by adding an extra zero to the payment.
He sent the provider $2000 and used up all of their credit!
Leah (Ada Nicodemou) tries to comfort Ryder that everything is not lost, but the supplier refuses to return the overcharge when Ryder phones them.
Chloe and Ryder are at a loss for what to do now that the corporate credit card has been maxed out, along with a hefty bank fee.
When Ryder’s love rival Theo (Matt Evans) proposes a solution, he promptly rejects it—but, with no other options, would Ryder be compelled to sacrifice his pride….?
