At the Logie Awards this weekend, Home and Away won a significant accolade.
The largest cast in Australian television history stormed the stage to celebrate the soap opera’s win in the category of Most Popular Drama Series, Miniseries, or Telemovie on the biggest night in Australian television.
The soap’s Roo Stewart, played by actress Georgie Parker, gave the award speech. She thanked the other candidates and people making “incredible drama and comedy” in Australia.
She remarked that Australian drama and comedy were hot right now.
The cast and crew of the show, Parker added, “You make every day worthwhile.”
She also expressed gratitude to the cast members’ parents “who let us go for so many hours every day” and the devoted audience.
She addressed the crowd, saying, “To our fans, near and far,” noting that “some of you has been with us for multiple decades.”
Following the win, the official Home and Away Instagram account wrote, “Thank you to all our amazing #HomeandAway fans, we have won the Silver Logie for Most Popular Drama Series.”
“Without you, we couldn’t have done it.”
Five further nominations for Home and Away were made for the Logies.
In the running for Most Popular Actor were Ray Meagher (Alf Stewart) and James Stewart (Justin Morgan), while in the running for Most Popular Actress were Ada Nicodemou (Leah Patterson), Emily Symons (Marilyn Chambers), and Lynne McGranger (Irene Roberts).
