When it comes to anniversary presents, jewellery is a safe bet that will put a smile on your spouse’s face.
Matt Tooker decided to increase the ante for Penny McNamee’s 13th wedding anniversary by buying a customised present.
The marketer commissioned an artwork of the tavern they went to for their first date on September 28, 2004 from artist Anna Mc AKA Blue Pig.
On Instagram, the former Home and Away star posted a photo of the artwork with the caption, “Gift for a wedding anniversary. The location of our first date.”
As if the emotion couldn’t be any sweeter, the art also has a humanitarian component.
Blue Pig donates 10% of profits from each building illustration to women living in low-income housing.
Penny and her husband Matt met during a school musical camp in 1999, and their first date was in 2004.
The former Home and Away star spoke out about their tragic first encounter when they were youngsters in an interview with New Idea.
“It was 1999, and we were at a music camp at our high school. Matt was in the orchestra playing the French horn – if it gets any nerdier – and I was in the choir when I first arrived at the school.
“Right away, I fell in love with him. I was a hysterical 16-year-old girl who believed he was perfect “she stated
Matt also shared his feelings for Penny when they first met with the publication.
He described her as “assured and cheerful.”
Of course, they took a break near the end of their teen years because they were so young when they first met.
“We were both 19 years old at the time, and we both realised we had to go out and live our lives — we wanted to study and travel,” the 37-year-old actress remarked of their breakup “she stated
“We chose to split up despite the fact that we truly loved each other, which was devastating.”
A boy named Jack and a girl named Neve are the couple’s two beautiful children.
