Lincoln Lewis, the former star of Home and Away, has confronted a woman who was found guilty of impersonating him online.
Lydia Abdelmalek was found guilty of stalking in 2019 and punished for enticing women into phoney internet interactions with the actor.
Lewis told the County Court on Monday that when he initially heard that someone was posing as him online, he was terrified and worried.
He said Abdelmalek gave out his home address and that one of the ladies went to his family home, assuming they were dating, the court heard.
“I’m here, do you want me to come and visit you?” the lady messaged a person she assumed was the star.
“I’m not here,” the guy said. You are not permitted to enter.”
A flight attendant was one of the victims, and her coworkers contacted Lewis on many occasions, claiming to know his girlfriend.
The actor also told the court that he was contacted in Bali by a man who thought the two were friends.
Lewis had no choice but to inform the man that he had no idea who he was.
Lewis told the court, “He looked me in the eye and said, “Brother, it’s me.”
“He said, ‘We’ve been friends for a few months now.’
“I said, ‘mate, I’m sorry, but I have no idea who you are.’”
Abdelmalek is appealing her conviction as well as her sentence of two years and eight months.
She was accused of luring naïve ladies into false relationships by exploiting the actor’s pictures and voice recordings.
She went so far as to email her father, mother, sister, and brother-in-law graphic photos of the lady as well as nasty messages.
In 2019, one of her victims committed herself after realising she’d fallen in love with a stranger.
The victim wrote a statement in 2016 detailing the agony of being misled into believing the TV celebrity loved her.
On Tuesday, the hearing will continue.
